About the venue
A 3 million dollar transformation made NOVA 535 the beautiful and unique event space open to the public on February 9, 2008. Long before this transformation, the 535 9th street north building was known as “Slap Happy’s” 5-and-dime store when it was originally built in 1920. This building was even utilized as a doggie daycare called “Pet Planet” when it was first purchased by NOVA 535’s founder Michael Scott Novilla.

The interior is wide open with a high 16-foot ceiling, two levels, and two staircases on each side perfect for the wedding party and bride to walk down from. The Brazilian hardwood floors, the original 1920 clay brick walls, drapes, and lighting blend perfectly well together for an added classy and sophisticated look.

Imagine you’ve just been married and now have an hour of photos. Your guests will be delighted to unwind and get ready to celebrate in a 25ft wide by 102.5ft secluded area with real clay antique bricks and surrounded by beautifully lit bamboo gardens. Although the actual dance floor will be indoors once the party starts, guests can be seated in the courtyard for dinner before. Additionally, when the dancing starts, guests will be able to step out to a quieter space for a breath of fresh air under St. Petersburg’s shining stars.
